Sclerotherapy Treatment

Varicose veins in most cases appear on the legs. They often stick out and are blue in color. Normally, valves in your veins keep blood flowing toward your heart so it doesn’t pool in one place. Varicose vein valves may be damaged or missing. This causes the veins to fill with blood, especially when standing.
Sclerotherapy uses injections with a very fine needle to improve the cosmetic appearance of spider veins, treat minor varicose veins in the legs, and relieve related symptoms such as pain, burning, swelling, and cramping.
It is a minimally invasive treatment, where a saline solution or a chemical solution is injected into the varicose vein. This injection is applied directly to the affected veins, causing them to shrink and eventually disappear.
Normally for this procedure it is not necessary to hospitalize the patient. The duration of the session is approximately 30 minutes.
One of the effects of this procedure is that larger varicose veins that have been injected can become bulging or hard for several months, although in most cases they disappear within three to six months. The results begin to be observed after the third week of starting treatment.
